CMS falls at home to Lafollette, 30-16

The Claiborne Middle School Bulldogs hosted Lafollette, September 30. It was a competitive game throughout until the very end.

The Bulldogs got behind early 8-0 and then tied it on a 63 yard run by Hunter Gibson. After the conversion, the game was all even and the Claiborne defense tried to hold the Owls out of the end zone but a couple mistakes on coverage cost them greatly.

The Owls led 22-8 and Owen Medlin found the end zone and after the conversion was good, the Bulldogs were right back in it at 22-16.

The second half belonged to the Owls as they won the game 30-16; however, the fourth quarter was very interesting. Claiborne lost a player who got in a scuffle while trying to defend himself but as usual the officials only saw one player and not the other. This angered some fans behind the Bulldogs bench and in turn fired up the visiting stands as well.

Coaches, players and fans at one point were displaying their displeasures loudly but the game soon ended and the two teams met at the 50 yard line for customary handshakes.

This was a good football game that the Owls won 30-16 but it felt much closer.
