Claiborne High School had a home game September 3 against the Buffaloes of West Greene.
Claiborne came in without the services of two quarterbacks due to injuries against Union County last week.
The weather was near perfect for football when the two teams took the field for a meaningful region game.
It was the Buffs who took control early and found success moving the numbers on the scoreboard. By the third quarter the Buffaloes led 28-7.
Claiborne scored once in the first half on a Landen Wilson pass to Zack Bailey. The two hooked up again during the second half to pull the Bulldogs closer but in the end the visiting Buffaloes had secured the victory by the final score of 49-14.
Claiborne was looking for something to build on and perhaps found it with Wilson.
When asked about how his team is fighting through adversity Coach Nathan Medlin said this, “I’m proud of our boys effort, playing a little short handed, learning new offense in a couple days practice and with some brand new players stepping into big roles isn’t easy. I’m very impressed with their ability to handle adversity and if we continue to get better every week, we will be ok.”
Claiborne will next play Northview Academy at home, September 10.
