Claiborne High basketball hosted Washburn, December 21 and the two teams split varsity wins with the Lady Bulldogs losing and the Bulldogs winning.
The varsity Lady Bulldogs competed hard but lost 59-56. Leading the Lady Bulldogs were Emma Myatt and Allie Jones, both scoring 12. Hannah Fugate had 10, Taylor Pressnell had eight, Ily Bussell and Jordan Fultz had five and Hailey Sexton dropped in four points. Claiborne held the lead at the half 23-20. Braelyn Coffey ripped the nets for Washburn to the total of 27 points.
During the boy’s game, Claiborne led 39-26 at the half and won big, 71-50. George Smith and Tyler Myatt both had 14 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring. Landen Wilson dropped in 12, Levi Peoples along with Ethan Cupp both scored 10, Seth Morelock had five, Zack Bailey had four, Daniel Eversole and Vince Bolden completed the total with a single point each.
