Cumberland Gap boys lose both games to First Baptist Christian Academy

The Cumberland Gap Panthers hosted First Baptist Christian Academy, November 30 but were defeated in both junior varsity and varsity action. First up was the JV game and the Panthers lost a heartbreaking one-point contest at 40-39. They led at the half 26-20. An 11-2 fourth period was the Panthers downfall. Leading Cumberland Gap in scoring was Kaleb Powers with 12, Alex Douglas had 10, Isaac Brown and Gavin Owens had five each, Noah Yonts dropped in three, Braden Painter and Ethan Powell rounded out the total with two points each. Leading the visiting team in scoring was Seth Ailey with nine.

During the varsity game, the Panthers lost 72-58 largely in part due to a 37-26 first half effort by the Eagles. Lance Owens scored 17 points but the coaches were equally impressed for the game that Hyrum Hinkley had. Hinckley had 14 but never came off the floor according to coaches and played a well-rounded game. Elijah Lawson had 11 points, Gabriel Peterson along with Dylan Ellison and Aiden Jackson all had four and Gavin Owens dropped down a single point. Kadell Robinson led the Eagles with 21. Cooper Roberts had 12 as did Jace Johnson.
