The Claiborne High School basketball season was a good one; perhaps they even overachieved but on Saturday, February 26, it was ended by the Blue Devils of Unicoi in regional play.
Ethan Cupp, Zack Bailey and Tyler Myatt began the game providing the offense for CHS during the opening period as they scored 10 combined; however, Unicoi dropped in 19. At the half the score was 42-24 as the Bulldogs found themselves further behind despite Seth Morelock dropping in his first basket during the second period and Bailey, Myatt and Cupp scoring as well. Claiborne needed a big third period, but they were outscored, 20-14 and the final period was unkind as well. Claiborne was outscored 12-5 and fell to Unicoi by the final score of 74-46. With the loss, the Bulldogs season ended.
Zack Bailey had 15 to lead the Bulldogs, Ethan Cupp dropped in 10, three players had seven including Seth Morelock, Tyler Myatt and Levi Peoples. Eli Johnson led Unicoi with 21 and Lucas Slagle had 18.
