Cumberland Gap hosts senior night basketball games against Gatlinburg-Pittman

Cumberland Gap celebrated its basketball, cheer and dance seniors, February 11. The varsity Lady Panthers basketball team tipped off against the Lady Highlanders and got behind early on the scoreboard and couldn’t recover. The score was 34-18 at the half and 64-35 at the final buzzer. Kylie Fultz led the Lady Panthers and had a great offensive effort with 17 points, Abbie Fultz had eight, Jaden Brock had six, Gracie Nash and Emrey Glover both dropped in two points. Kayle Yates led all scorers for GP with 23.

The varsity boys were next on the floor and the Panthers were behind 35-21 at the half. Coming out of the break, Cumberland Gap couldn’t get the offense back on track and began losing more ground in the third period. It was 64-29 after three periods and the very good Highlander team went on to win by the final score of 74-38. Leading the Panthers in scoring was Elijah Lawson with 13, Gavin Owens had 10, Aiden Jackson had four, Trace Provins dropped in three, Lance Owens along with Gabriel Peterson, Ethan Powell and Dylan Ellison all had two points. Cumberland Gap had no answer for Ty Glasper. He led GP and all scorers with 29 points.
