Cumberland Gap took on University High of Johnson City in state sectionals on October 22nd looking for a spot in the state tournament.
Aly Ramsey found the goal for Cumberland Gap first on an assist from Allyson Brock. Cumberland Gap was up 1-0 over University High with 27:40 left in the first half.
Aly Ramsey found the net again on another assist from Allyson Brock. Cumberland Gap was then up 2-0 over University High with 21:59 left in the first half.
Allyson Brock found Aly Ramsey for another Panther goal. Cumberland Gap pushed their lead up to 3-0 over University High with 9:39 left in the first half.
Cumberland Gap was up 3-0 over University High at the end of the first half. Aly Ramsey had three goals and Allyson Brock had three assists for the Panthers. Breanna Mason had four saves for The Gap.
Carmen Ellis scored on a penalty kick for University High but Cumberland Gap was still up 3-1 with 25:27 left in the second half.
Brianna Goins found Aly Ramsey for another Panthers goal. Cumberland Gap was up 4-1 over University High with 24:32 left in the second half.
Allyson Brock found Aly Ramsey for their fourth assist/score combo of the game and Cumberland Gap took a 5-1 lead over University High with 19:38 left in the game.
Rebecca Ford got a ball into the goal for University on a great shot inside after a perfectly deflected ball by Gap Keeper Breanna Mason. Cumberland Gap was up 5-2 over University High with 17:59 left in the game.
Cumberland Gap was able to run the clock out and secure a 5-2 victory over University High to move onto the girls soccer state tournament next week in Chattanooga!
Aly Ramsey had all five goals for Cumberland Gap. Allyson Brock assisted on four of those goals and Brianna Goins assisted one. Keeper Breanna Mason had seven saves for Cumberland Gap.
