The Clairfield Eagles hosted Springdale November 1. The junior varsity boys were the first team to take the court. Clairfield took the lead early and led both at the end of the first period and at the half. The score at the half was 8-0. During the second half, The Eagles kept scoring and they led 14-1 after three periods. The scoring slowed during the third period but at the final buzzer Clairfield had defended their home floor and won 16-1. Lucas Hamblin led the Eagles and all scorers with 14 and Conner Monday scored two. Nathan Jones scored the Owls only point.
The second game featured the varsity girls’ teams. Clairfield jumped ahead and led 5-2 after one period of play. Springdale stormed back in the second period and led at the half, 12-5. During the third both teams put points on the board, but it was the Lady Owls moving further out front and they led 18-7 after the third period. Springdale went heavy to the bench during the final period but were still able to get the win, 18-11. Jocelyn Essary led the Lady Owls with six points. Bella Cadle had four, Delaney Nickell had two, Maci Short had two, Gracie Rouse had two as did Kinsley Hayes. Clairfield was led by Destiny Hamblin with five points. Haven Tolliver had four, Aerith Mckiddy completed the total with two.
The Volunteer Gold Carts Player of the Game was Jocelyn Essary. Congratulations Jocelyn!
The final game of the night featured the Eagles versus Owls in varsity boy’s action. Springdale went on a huge run during the opening period and were able to lead 20-0 going into the second period. Springdale lengthened their advantage during the second period and led 28-3 at the half. The Owls moved on out to a 42-7 lead going into the final period. At the final buzzer Springdale had won the game, 56-7. Leading the Owls in scoring were three with 10 points including Chance Robinette, Harrison Whitaker and Emery Keiter. Owen Medlin and Caleb Cupp both had six. Blake Gilbert had four as did Robby Wilmoth. Daniel Loop and Xavier Nickell each had two points. Clairfield was led by Conner Monday with five and Tycen Lowe with two points.
