Midway hosted Washburn in a full slate of basketball, November 28.

First on the floor were the junior varsity girls and the Lady Red Devils put up six points on the board without giving up any. Going into the second period, Midway led 6-0. Washburn came back in the second and were down by only three but the score remained 6-3 at the half. Midway led 13-3 after three periods and went on to win 19-5. Gracie Bolden led Midway with 11. Kaylee Shoffner had four, Addison Dyke had two along with Addyson Johnson.  Washburn was led by Hayden Welch who scored all five for the Lady Pirates.

The junior varsity boys were next and Midway was down 6-0 and couldn’t knock down a shot on the offensive end. The first period ended 10-0 with the Pirates enjoying a big lead. Midway found some offense during the second period but were down 22-5 at the half. Coming out of the locker room Washburn kept scoring and after three periods led 26-8. At the final buzzer the Pirates had won 32-10. Leading the Red Devils in scoring was Bryson Meyers with four points and three others dropped in two each including Jarrett Maples, Brady Rosenbalm and Landen Callahan.  Washburn was led by Gavin Kincade with nine and Tate Clay had eight. Aeveum Anderson had six, Brody Clay had five and Nolan Harville had four.

The first of two varsity games featured the Midway Lady Red Devils. Midway began scoring early but allowed Washburn to stay close on the scoreboard. After one period of play the Lady Red Devils led 6-3. Just under the four minute mark of the opening half the Lady Pirates took the lead by one on a banked three-pointer, 9-8. Midway never answered those scores and found themselves down 14-8 at the half. The Lady Red Devils stormed back and were within one point with three minutes left in the third period. The third period ended with Midway leading by one at 19-18. Washburn tied the game and then took a three-point lead at 22-19 midway through the final period. Midway turned cool from the charity stripe and with two minutes left were still down by one despite six chances to take the lead. As the clock ticked down Washburn missed a couple free throws that kept Midway in the game. A steal and a blocking foul gave Midway another chance from the free throw line but failed. They took the lead down low and at the other end Washburn completed one from the stripe to tie the game at 23. With two seconds left in regulation Midway tried to inbound the ball but it was stolen by Washburn. A shot was thrown up but missed and the game went into overtime, 23-23. Washburn hit the first points of the overtime period and then knocked down a three to lead by five, 28-23. Washburn took home a 29-23 victory. Leading Midway in scoring was Jadyn Meyers with 16 points. Gracie Bolden had five and Sieanna Watson had two points. Two Lady Pirates had 12 points each including Taylie Proffitt and Ameli King. Others recording scores were Sara Booker and Leah Collins.

The final game featured the two boys teams and it was Midway winning the tip; however,  Washburn scored the first basket of the game. Washburn rolled on to lead 13-2 after one period of play. It seemed as every shot for the Pirates found the net when the second period started as they moved on ahead 21-6. After cooling off a little the Pirates finished the half ahead of the Red Devils, 24-8. When the teams came back out on the floor Midway was looking to string a few baskets together to get back in the game. Four consecutive turnovers led to eight more Washburn points and Midway was still struggling.  After three periods the score was 41-13. Midway had one last chance to gain the momentum back and rally back but Washburn played strong during the final period and won the game by the final score of 55-16. Leading Midway in scoring was

Braeden Bennett with seven, Aiden Roberts with four, Samuel Wilson with three, Lane Epperson with one and Aayden Bailey with one. Dillon Mullins and Justin Bailey both had 23 to lead Washburn.  Bryson Clau and Gavin Kincaid and Dacyn Cornette also recorded scores.
