The Claiborne Bulldogs basketball team traveled to Grainger to battle the Grizzlies, January 10. Claiborne started off hanging right with Grainger during the opening period and were down by only one at 14-13 after one period of play. Ethan Cupp got off to a fast start along with Brennan Fugate. Things started getting away from the Bulldogs during the second period as Grainger scored 15 and Claiborne only eight, 29-21. Vince Bolden and Tyler Myatt joined Fugate and Cupp in putting scores in the book during the second period. A 22-10 difference in scoring during the third period was likely the Bulldogs’ downfall. The Grizzlies also outscored Claiborne during the final period, 18-13. 69-44 was the final score with the Grizzlies capturing the victory. Ethan Cupp once again led the Grizzlies in scoring with 21. Jake Smith finished with seven. Fugate had six. Bolden finished with four. Tyler Myatt and Brady Hamlin both scored three points. Three Grizzlies scored in double figures. Drew Branson scored 24. Carter Williams scored 12 and Ryland Burchett also dropped in 12. Kade Williams scored nine and Brizen Soloman finished with four points.
The Danny England Motors Player of the Game was Vince Bolden. Bolden was complimented by his coaches for his efforts and tough play. Congratulations Vince!
