April 6- The Cumberland Gap Panthers baseball team hosted West Greene and were without a few players due to disciplinary reasons. Tate Murphy started on the mound but had a few issues with base-on-balls early. West Greene scored on a sacrifice fly and later scored three runs on a base-on-balls with bases loaded making it 4-0. A double down the third base line plated three more, 6-0.

In the bottom of the first, Cumberland Gap had two on base but never got the timely hit to score a base runner, 6-0.

During the top of the second, West Greene loaded the bases and scored one on a single to center. Another run crossed the plate, making it 7-0. The Buffaloes snuck in another run from third, pushing the lead out to 8-0.

The Panthers needed to rally during the bottom of the second, but despite well hit balls to short right center, the Gap went three-up and three-down.

West Greene was looking to add runs in their half of the third, and the Gap had a new arm on the mind, Isaac Brown. The Buffaloes loaded the bases with one out. Brown worked on the mound, getting the strikeout and had two outs. The Buffaloes scored three more on Panther mishaps making it 11-0.

The Panthers tried to rally and had a base runner in scoring position but stranded him at second, still 11-0. In the top of the fourth, West Green manufactured three more runs in part due to hit batters. The score was pushed out to 14-0.

During the Panthers’ bottom of the fourth, Cumberland Gap had another missed opportunity when they had two on base but left them stranded.

West Greene was looking for a few insurance runs leading 14-0, but the Panthers’ defense held, and West Greene left one on base. In the bottom of the fifth, Gibbs Cochran hit a sacrifice fly scoring one run making it 14-1. The Panthers had the bases loaded with two outs, and Brown was hit by pitch, scoring another run. The scoreboard read 14-2 after five and the run rule was activated.
