October 13- Cumberland Gap hosted the Happy Valley warriors in a district game on homecoming night.
The Panthers received the ball to start game. After several plays and a successful fourth down attempt, the panthers fought their way down the field and inside the five-yard line as it started to drizzle. Allen Brooks found the end zone for a Panther TD with 5:51 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point attempt failed as the ball was dropped after the snap. The warriors answered with a TD of their own with 3:55 remaining. The two-point attempt was good leaving the score 8-6 Happy Valley. There was a fumble on the play with 59 seconds remaining in the first, giving Happy Valley the ball back. Happy Valley had a big run for another Warrior TD with 8 seconds left in the first quarter. The two-point attempt was good leaving the score Happy Valley 16, Cumberland Gap 6 to end the quarter.
The Panthers had the ball to start the second quarter and attempted to answer with a touchdown of their own but ended up turning it over on downs. Happy Valley had a big run for a warrior TD with 9:12 left in the second quarter. The two-point attempt was good leaving the score panthers 6, warriors 24. A pass to Hunter Gibson got Cumberland Gap a TD with 8:06 remaining in the second quarter. The two-point conversion was no good leaving the score 12-24 Happy Valley. The warriors answer with a TD of their own with 7:26 left in the first half. The two-point conversion fails leaving the score 30 to 12 Warriors. Happy Valley scored another TD with 2:19 remaining. The two-point conversion was good leaving the score 38-12 Happy Valley at the half.
Homecoming festivities was held at halftime with Jaelynn Jones winning 2023 Homecoming queen, Gabby Massengill first runner up and Alyssa Smith second runner up.
Cumberland Gap kicked off to start the third quarter and the warriors scored another TD. The extra point kick was good, leaving the score 45 to 12 Happy Valley. The warriors recovered a fumbled kickoff return giving them the ball back near their 32-yard line resulting in another TD, extra point kick was good, the score 52 to 12 Happy Valley to end the third quarter.
Panthers forced a punt to start the fourth quarter but after a fumble, Happy Valley scored one last time making the final score 58-12 with a Warrior win.
