October 9- Cumberland Gap High School hosted Gatlinburg-Pittman in the opening round of the 2023 district tournament. The two teams played during the regular season with the Lady Panthers winning 3-1. This game resembled the regular season game very much. Cumberland Gap’s Kayden Ramsey scored the game’s opening goal in the first half and the Lady Panthers led 1-0 going into the half. Coming out of the break, the Lady Highlanders were focused and determined to tie the match and they did just that early in the second half. With the match tied at one, Cumberland Gap then scored three unanswered goals to re-take the lead for good at 4-1. Izzy Helton finished with a hat trick, three goals unofficially. With the win, Cumberland Gap will load the bus, October 10, to battle Chuckey-Doak. The Lady Black Knights defeated the Lady Panthers 2-0 in the regular season match. Izzy Helton is the First Century Bank Player of the Game.
