November 13- Powell Valley hosted H.Y. Livesay in basketball but most importantly, the game was a Pink Out. Livesay Middle School released a statement that read, “What a beautiful event to honor an amazing family in our community. Jim Weaver, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and more was honored tonight as PV and HY raised money to help this family. His mother-in-law, Ms. Shirley, worked as our custodian for many years until she retired last year at 73. We are proud to be a part of this event annually and our heartfelt sympathies and love go to this family. The student council and administration had it beautifully decorated to honor all those who have or currently battling cancer. The PV cheerleader’s presentation of roses to Ms. Sandy Weaver was very moving and thoughtful. Congratulations to our JV girls, JV boys, and Varsity Girls for their amazing wins tonight and our dance/cheer performances and sidelines were excellent. Are you proud to be an Eagle, yes, we are!”
The first of two boys’ games was a junior varsity contest with the Eagles getting a one-point win at 15-14. The Eagles were led by J. Dixon with eight points, Kellen Bollinger had four and Sawyer Cook had two. Casen Bolinger had 11 for the Indians and K. Hatfield finished the total with three.
The varsity game belonged to the Indians, 41-11. Colby Weaver led with 18, Hunter Ellison had 13, Braden Lane had six and Jacob Tinnel had four. The Eagles were led by Noah Fultz with eight, Sawyer Wallace had three and Bryson Gibson scored two points.
