Powell Valley traveled to Scott High to play in the first round of the middle school sectional tournament. To advance, the Indians had to get by Coalfield, and they did just that winning by the final score of 51-47. Luke Lloyd shined in this one scoring 18 points. Braden Lane also scored double figures with 10. Jacob Tinnel dropped in nine, Colby Weaver scored seven, Hunter Ellison had five and Korbin Goins finished with two. Coalfield was led in scoring by Knox Pemberton with 14, Ian Hammock had 11, Brayden Guinn had seven, Caleb Breedan scored nine, Kaleb Mullins scored two, and Austin McMinn had two. * All scores unofficial.
With the win, Powell Valley moves on to play round two at Harriman High School at 5:30 p.m. against Chilhowee Middle.
