Cumberland Gap falls in season opener to Cosby, 37-7.

August 23- Cumberland Gap hosted Cosby for week one football. The Panthers are playing under a new head coach, Nick Nash, and learning a new system; however, all the fans and coaches knew learning pains would have to come as they acclimated to the new offense and defense.

Despite allowing two quick scores by the Eagles, the Cumberland Gap defense showed a tenacious effort in the first half. The Panthers got two consecutive sacks followed by an interception secured by Tyler Medley. They secured three picks in total by night’s end. Allen Brooks scored for the Panthers during the first half and that would be the only score of the night for the Panthers.

The Eagles led 30-7 at the half and went on to win, 37-7. Still, the Panthers will learn from this game and dissect it in the film study and get ready to travel to Thomas Walker next Friday.
