The host school Claiborne High was next on the floor at the Carl R. Green Gymnasium. Their opponent was the Scott County Highlanders. Claiborne showed some solidarity on the court early, and that was a welcome sight for Bulldogs’ coaches and fans. Drew Epperson supplied the spark, and by the half, he was already in double-figures with 12. Kristopher Ford, Chace Robinette, and Hunter Greer all had three points at the half. Jaigen Morgan led the Highlanders at the half with eight. During the second half, Scott County slowly pulled ahead, but the Bulldogs battled back and had the Highlander lead down to two points at 48-46. The Bulldogs then put the full court pressure on, but Scott County had an open man under the rim. After the basket, the score was 50-46. Claiborne missed a three, and Scott County sealed the victory on the free throw line, 52-46. Morgan finished with 17 to lead the Highlanders and Wyatt Lloyd also had double-figures with 14. Claiborne was led by Epperson with 16. Scott County did a great job defending Epperson during the second half.
