The 2024 Claiborne County Varsity Basketball Tournament was held at Claiborne High School and hosted by Midway Elementary. Imperial Transport was the tournament sponsor.

Game one featured Springdale Lady Owls versus Forge Ridge Lady Dragons. Springdale grabbed the lead 5-2 and led at the half, 18-7. In the end, the Lady Owls won 34-11 in part due to Kinsley Hayes’ 17 points. Madison Parrish scored seven. Four other Lady Owls scored two each, including Adilyn Kelly, Bella Cadle, Olivia Rose, and Bristol Stone. The Lady Dragons were led in scoring by Zayda Muncy with four. Ryleigh Sturgill had three, Makinley Wilson and Amerlyn Bussell, both scored two points each.
Next on the floor was a meeting between Soldier’s Memorial Middle School and Forge Ridge. A 26-0 Blue Devil run put them out front where they stayed. Trevaur Taylor scored 22, and Brayden Grim had 21. Payton Eldridge and Parker Herrell had three each, and Breaton Ford, along with Colton Brewer had two. Forge Ridge was led in scoring by Kanaan Adams with eight, Preston Johnson had five, Maiden Patterson scored three, and two others dropped in two each, including Mack Robinson and Blake Daniels.
The Matt Compton, State Farm Players of the Game belonged to Kinsley Hayes with Springdale and Trevaur Taylor along with Brayden Grim for SMMS. Three games are scheduled for Tuesday, two on the boy’s side and one on the girls’ side of the bracket.
