Claiborne County Middle School Varsity Basketball Tournament, Day 2

December 17- 2024 Claiborne County Varsity Basketball Tournament second day was held at Claiborne High School and hosted by Midway Elementary. Imperial Transport was the tournament sponsor.

The first game of the evening was a girl’s contest between Midway and Powell Valley. Midway jumped ahead early and led 21-7 after three periods of play. The fourth period belonged to the Lady Indians. They erased a 16-point advantage and had the game tied; however, the Lady Red Devils withstood the charge and won 27-23. Midway was led in scoring by Tori Spurlock with 11. Addison Dyke, Briar Miracle and McKinley Miracle all had four. Gracie Bolden and Keylee Shoffner both had two. Powell Valley was led by Cabella Duverney with 16. Jaylyn Pearman had six, and Taytum Brummett had one.
Game two featured the Livesay Eagles versus Springdale.  The Eagles were led by Nate Bain and Ryan Garside, both with nine on the way to a 43-25 win. Bryson Gibson had eight, Casen Adams had six, Caleb Powell and Collin Killion finished with four. Byron Green had two, and Riley Marsee finished with one. Springdale was led by Isaiah Keiter with nine, Walker Combs had six, Brantley Burke scored four. Jack Chittum and Brodie Martin dropped in two, and Nathan Jones, along with Jace Davis, had one.
The final game of the night featured Powell Valley versus Clairfield. The Indians won 49-33. Leading the way was Korbin Goins with 22. Andrew Humfleet was a three-point shooting machine. He had 15 points all on threes. Casen Bolinger had eight, Cooper Chumley had three, and Brantley Brummett had two. For Clairfield,  Bryson Marlow had 10, Lucas Hamlin had eight, Conner Monday had seven, Elijah Lyke had five Tycen Lowe scored two, and Trenton Norman one point.

The Matt Compton State Farm Insurance Players of the Game were Cabella Duverney for the Lady Indians, Nate Bain, and Ryan Garside for H.Y., and Korbin Goins for Powell Valley.
