August 19- Claiborne High School volleyball hosted Hancock for their season opening match. Claiborne’s junior varsity team was defeated by the Lady Indians in two straight sets, and the varsity team lost in five sets. CHS won the opening set 25-14 but lost set two, 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs rallied to win the third set, 25-23 but lost the fourth set 25-22 setting up a fifth and deciding set. The Lady Indians made a run that put CHS behind and the Lady Bulldogs did not answer with one of their own falling 15-7 and losing three sets to two. The Lady Bulldogs showed great improvement over last year’s team but wasted a great opportunity when they were up two sets to one: however, this team has learned how to compete and will definitely be a surprise to most teams.
