Austin Neely competed in the Topless Outlaws Series presented by Vision Wheel, August 21. Neely had been on top of the points list until timeless veteran Ronnie Johnson took over the points lead at Charlotte.
The Bill Ogle Memorial held at Tazewell Speedway was another chance for Neely to drive in front of family, friends and a huge hometown fan base.
Neely was able to keep Johnson and all other competitors in the Tazewell Speedway dust to get a huge win. The Zone asked Neely how it was to get another win in front of the home town crowd, “It was great man, we had a good hot rod under us for sure.”
When asked how it felt to have a legend like Johnson chasing him he said this, “It felt very good because we have been chasing him the last few races.”
Neely added, “All jokes aside, to be able to beat a hall of fame driver, Jason Trammell and Dakotah Knuckles at Tazewell Speedway is amazing. I would put Trammell and Knuckles as two of the best ever at Tazewell Speedway.”
Neely wanted to give thanks to his many sponsors who believe in him including Reece Monument Company, Giles Industries, MRC Transportation Inc., Five Star Properties Inc., Four Season’s Boat and RV Storage, Mary’s Home Furnishings, Tim Fletcher Heating & Cooling, Clayton Homes of Middlesboro, Oakwood Surplus Barn, Jeffers Exterminating, Thompson Insurance Group, DJ’s Performance Racing Engines, Rayce Technologies by Weaver, XS Power & Batteries, Team Fastlane Design and Graphics and Team Zero Race Cars.
Neely said, “A very special thanks goes out to my wife and son, my dad, Robert Rosenbalm, Mark Estep and Dylan Robinson.”
