The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team hosted Hancock County, September 27.
There were two games scheduled with the first being a junior varsity game. The Lady Indians slipped ahead on the scoreboard and led 10-6 early. They pulled on out to lead 14-10 before winning set one 25-19.
During the second set, Hancock got out to a 7-2 lead before Claiborne rallied and pulled to within four at 18-14. The Lady Indians later had match point with the serve, but Claiborne scored one more point to extend the set but fell 25-20 and lost in straight sets.
After a short break, the varsity teams took the floor. Claiborne jumped ahead 4-1 but Hancock quickly tied the game. Hancock went ahead by two then pushed on out to lead 13-9. The Lady Bulldogs rallied back to tie set one at 15 and again at 18 but the Lady Indians kept staying just ahead of the host team winning the opening set 26-24.
Claiborne really needed to take set two and pulled out to a 12-9 lead. Hanging on to a 13-12 lead the two teams got into a long volley with Hancock getting the point and tying the game at 13. The Lady Indians had to withstand a late charge from Claiborne but won set two, 25-21.
During set three, Hancock went to their bench heavy, and Claiborne kept the pace up until a run by the Lady Indians put them out front by two. Claiborne tied it at 11 and went ahead by two at 13-11. Unforced errors allowed the visiting team to move out to a six-point advantage. The Lady Indians won the third and final set 25-16. Hancock took home a straight set match victory 3-0.

The Commercial Bank Player of the Game was earned by Jacey Ferguson. Ferguson was active all over the court and had one of her best games with defensive bumps or digs. Congratulations Jacey!
