Claiborne lost in overtime to Harlan County 68-57 for the runner-up spot at the Farmers & Miners Classic at Lee County, Virginia. During the December 20 meeting, Claiborne and Harlan were tied at 12 after the first period. Claiborne jumped ahead during the second period with a 24-12 run and led at the half 36-24. Harlan rallied back in the third and took the lead at 44-42. After four periods the game was tied, and overtime was in play. A 13 -2 overtime period was Claiborne’s downfall. The final score was 68-57. Leading CHS in scoring was Taylor Pressnell with 16. Hannah Fugate had 14. Allie Jones had seven, Bailey Genesis and Jordan Fultz had six. Addie Brooks and Ily Bussell had four each. Leading Harlan was Jaylin Smith with a game leading 25.
Claiborne took zero free throws during the overtime period and Harlan went to the line six times. Taylor Presnell & Hannah Fugate were selected to All-Tournament team.
