The 2021 Lady Bulldogs season ended tonight in the Regional Tournament.
Not many people had expectations so high for the young team but Justin Cox always kept the hope that he could get this team to overachieve.
The Lady Bulldogs did just that. Claiborne felt like they could finish in the top three but instead they came just one break away from upsetting Greeneville and winning the District Championship.
They made the Regional Tournament and the program appears to be ahead of schedule.
Coach Cox took a few minutes to talk about his thoughts on the season, “As a coach, obviously I’m disappointed in the loss but the growth of this team over the entire season is what a coach looks for. We told them from day one that the first 34 don’t count, it’s what you do when post season starts that really counts.”
He went on to say, “The girls bought in and really responded during the district tournament. I hate to end the season like this and have to say goodbye to my first senior class but I’m excited for next year and what the future holds. We fully expect to expand on this historic season.”
Cox added, “A special thank you to our fans who have been VERY supportive. Also, this guy named Allen Earl that takes our pictures and stuff, he’s alright too.”
The Lady Bulldogs went 17-18 overall on the season.
