September 29- Claiborne High played host to Chuckey-Doak on a great evening for homecoming and football. The Bulldogs kicked off to the Black Knights, and the defense held. With 4:38 showing on the clock, Cole Jones scored, but the point after failed. At the 2:55 mark in the first Chuckey-Doak scored, but the point after hit the upright, 6-6.
In the second quarter, Chuckey-Doak got a scoop and score for the second Knights touchdown of the game. The point after was good, 13-6. Claiborne was driving, but an interception stole the momentum away. The Knights scored with 33 seconds left in the half. The point after was true, and Chuckey-Doak led at the half, 20-6.
During the halftime break, Claiborne announced the Class Princesses and Homecoming queen. The 2023 Claiborne High School Homecoming Queen was Genesis Bailey. The Senior Princess was Taylor Roton. The Junior Princess was Kendra Davis. The Sophomore Princess was Abigail Daniels, and the Freshman princess was Miley Thornsbury.
When play resumed, Chuckey-Doak added six more in the third and hit the point after extending their lead to 27-6. The third quarter ended with the same score. The final quarter was a quick one and the Knights left with the 27-6 victory. Sadly, two Bulldogs left with game with upper body injuries just minutes apart and were taken to the hospital via ambulance for further evaluation. Prayers and well wishes to both players, Korbin Hatfield and Anthony Turner. Both were moving and talking when they left the campus. The Zone will have an update when available.
