December 4- The 2023 Claiborne County Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament began with two games on opening night. The second matchup was on the girl’s side of the bracket with H.Y. Livesay and Powell Valley. Livesay jumped ahead and led at the half, 10-3. In the end, the Lady Eagles took down the Lady Indians, 22-12. Livesay was co-led in scoring by the Mary’s Home Furnishings and Appliance Center players of the game, Raylynn Parker and Josie Lawson both with eight points unofficially. Kayha Bryant had four and Elle Harris had two. Jalyn Pearman led the Lady Indians with five, Charli Carver had three and Peyton Lloyd had two. December 5- The second day of the 2023 Claiborne County Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament featured two games with the second game being between H.Y. Livesay and Forge Ridge.
The Dragons jumped out front and led 9-4 after one period of play; however, the Eagles scored 13 points in the second to lead at the half, 17-11. Livesay never looked back and won the game, 27-17. Norris Cadle was the catalyst for the Eagles as he dropped in 13 points. Cooper Brock scored seven, Sawyer Cook had five and Teagan May finished with two. Lucas Leonard led the Dragons with eight, Preston Johnson had six and Max Collingsworth had five. The Fortner’s Home Connection Player of the Game went to Cadle. *Scores unofficial.
