Gap walks off with 3-2 win over Thomas Walker

Cumberland Gap High School, May 5- Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion thanks to a walk-off home run at the end of the game to topple Thomas Walker.

The game was tied at two with the Lady Panthers batting in the bottom of the eighth when Jada Lawson hit a solo homer. The pitching was strong on both sides. Kerry Dixon struck out nine, while Thomas Walkers’ #1 sat down 18.

Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers Varsity got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for the Lady Panthers. Thomas Walker knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning when #2 grounded out, scoring one run. Jada Lawson scored all three runs for the Lady Panthers with a timely line drive in the gap in the bottom of the eighth inning securing the victory for the the Gap.

The Lady Panthers softball team reached one goal that Coach Bean had set out there and that’s the number of wins. Their record is now a school best 16-10. The previous record was thought to be 15 wins.
