2021-22 Claiborne Bulldogs Basketball Preview

The Claiborne Bulldogs boys basketball team is practicing for the upcoming season. It’s a new classification and new teams to battle for CHS but this Bulldogs team will be a team to compete with anyone on their schedule.

The Bulldogs are senior heavy with Levi Peoples, Landen Wilson, Seth Morelock, Zack Bailey, George Smith and Daniel Eversole who is healed from a football injury and eager to play.

George Smith is once again considered the Rodman type of player for CHS as he is expected to rebound and provide the energy by leading the team with his hustle.

Wilson will be one of the players to slash to the basket along with Morelock, Bailey, Peoples and Eversole for easy the baskets and they will also be depended on for three point opportunities.

There are four great juniors as well including Tyler Myatt, Brennan Fugate, Ethan Short and Devan Lafasanella-Meyer. Myatt will be one to watch as he is another player that can do it all.

Sophomore Ethan Cupp looks ready to take the next step as he is expected to do work in the paint and from the three point line. Evan Thomas, Brady Hamlin, Jacob Smith, Vince Bolden, Caden Cox and Eli Poore all are capable of doing great things this season anywhere they are needed. Look for Cupp to get a few slam dunks this season.

The Freshman class consists of Houston Seabolt, Elijah Myers, Garrett Rains, Cole Holt and Ethan Hunter Greer. Look for playing time for these athletes as well.

CHS Head Coach Corey McGinnis said this about the 2021-22 team, “We are capable of some good things. We return a lot of good players with good development over the summer but the next two weeks will be big for us and our expectations are high.”

With the change in classification, Claiborne will play Greeneville, Grainger, Cocke County, Cherokee and will have eight conference games plus a tough non-conference schedule.

McGinnis wanted to send the fans, parents and Bulldog Nation this message, “I can guarantee this team is going to play hard all game long and were going to run when we can and play pressure defense. We want to be playing our best going into the tournament so come on out, fill up the gym and cheer us on.”
