Claiborne High School wrestling traveled to Chuckey-Doak, December 9.
Winners from that match were Megan Yeary (CHS first ever win in girl’s wrestling) and Anna Jones on the girls’ team and Dalton Long, Cole Jones, Ryan Olson and Justin Robinson for the boys.
One day later, Claiborne hosted their inaugural match and picked up their first team win against Chuckey-Doak with the highlight being the first, home-match win on the mat by Landen Poore.
Claiborne and Union were next to take the mat. Bulldog Kaleb Pry won by pin. Cole Jones also won by pin to give CHS a 12-6 advantage. Larry Johnson got a win by pinfall, but Union held a 54-18 advantage and took the match.
Coach Lee filled in for an under the weather Coach Walker and Lee said this about the team, “I’m so proud of them. I think this is the start of something great.”
