Lady Panthers defeated by GP, will play for third place

Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers played their first game of the 2021-2022 district tournament, February 19. They traveled to Gatlinburg-Pittman and were looking for a victory over a very good basketball team. The Lady Panthers had a great opening period and scored 14 behind the offense of Emrey Glover, Jaden Brock, the Fultz twins and Gracie Nash; however, the Lady Highlanders dropped in 24. At the half the Lady Panthers were down 35-23.

Following the halftime break, Cumberland Gap had their worst period of the game scoring the basketball with seven points. Glover had all seven. Cumberland Gap had their best scoring output in the final period and scored 16 but allowed GP to score 18. The Lady Highlanders took the win by the final score of 69-46. Cumberland Gap will play in the distrct consolation game, February 21.

Cumberland Gap was led in scoring by Glover with 16, Abbie Fultz with nine, Jaden Brock had seven, Abbie Fultz had six, Brynlee Foster with five and Nash had three. Leading GP in scoring was Kayle Yates with 16.
