Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-0 loss to Union County on Friday. Union County scored on a single by T. Monroe and a triple by M. Dyer in the first inning.
The Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Union County, giving up 13 runs.
Union County fired up the offense in the first inning, when monroe singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
#24 got the start for Union County. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on zero hits over five innings, striking out ten and walking one.
Lacey Gulley led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers. The pitcher allowed 12 hits and 13 runs over five innings, striking out one.
Union County racked up 12 hits on the day. Dyer, B. Hall, a satterfield, and a biggs all managed multiple hits for Union County. Union County was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Monroe had the most chances in the field with ten. Sophomore Shelbie Medley #3 1B was named the Walker & Walker Construction Player of the Game for her overall efforts. Congratulations Shelbie!
