Lady Panthers defeat Middlesboro

Despite allowing three runs in the fifth inning, Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers defeated Middlesboro Varsity Yellow Jackets 10-5 on Thursday. Middlesboro Varsity Yellow Jackets scored its runs on a home run by MaKenzie Miller.

Kerry Dixon led things off in the circle for Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers. The righty went seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.

Kaylee Lawson led things off on the rubber for Middlesboro Varsity Yellow Jackets. The righty went six innings, allowing ten runs on eight hits and striking out five.

Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers tallied one home run on the day. Dixon had a long ball in the third inning.

Halle Greene went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers in hits. Cumberland Gap Varsity Panthers tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Kaylee Bayless led the way with two.

Kailey Owens led Middlesboro Varsity Yellow Jackets with two hits in three at bats.

The Walker and Walker Construction Player of the Game went to Kerry Dixon with a three run homer. She pitched seven innings, had one earned run and no walks, striking out 12.
