Claiborne soccer blanked Cherokee 9-0; record improved to 6-1-1 overall

Claiborne High girls’ soccer hosted Cherokee, September 12. Claiborne got off to a fast start and scored six goals before the first half had ended. Coach Jeff Sorke made sure he allowed his younger players to get some playing time and they responded with three goals ending the contest at 9-0.

Freshman Abby Daniels kicked in a hat trick (3 goals); junior player Lacey Estep added two more, Haley LeBert along with Haley Johnson, Leah Buchannan and Caryle England each scored one goal. Taylor Pressnell led the team in assists with two.

The Claiborne defenders played extremely well leaving Abby Yeary bored in the net but when tried she made two stops keeping the shutout alive. Thoughts and prayers went out to Riley Kiefer who left the pitch and went to the emergency room with an injured ankle. The Max Preps player of the Game went to Carlye England.

The First Century Bank Player of the Game was freshman Abby Daniels and her three goals. Congratulations Abby!
