The Zone’s Girl Student of the Month Presented by McDowell Gear & Machine: Haley Eversole

Haley Eversole from CHS is The Zone’s girl student of the month as presented by McDowell Gear & Machine. Her parents are Jeff and Londa Eversole. She is a senior at Claiborne high school. She has been a cheerleader since she was four. She’s cheered with the high school all four years. Haley takes dual enrollment classes at Walters state and makes good grades there. She maintains a high GPA in high school. She sings and plays the piano at our church, helps with children’s church as a well and also sings the national anthem at sports events at the high school. She is a very smart and well-behaved kid. She never gets into any trouble. She is also very kind and considerate.

“We went on a UT tour, and it was sweltering hot. Haley is very fashionable and was dressed rather warmly compared to everyone else. I watched her as we walked all over campus. We were all sweating, including her. But she was having a great time! Interacting with the tour guides and students in and out of her circle. She wasn’t letting it bother her a bit. In my mind it had to be sheer determination to live in the moment.
This led me to another thought, bear with me lol.
When Haley was younger – elementary school/ middle school – she got to a point in Math where it wasn’t coming very easy for her anymore. She was very upset about and became easily frustrated when trying to do homework. My daughter and Haley have always been friends, and my daughter would help explain and encourage Haley. Well, anyway, Haley is in my PreCal class this semester. And it hit me this week. Haley is in my PreCal class this semester! This means her ACT Math score was high enough to make the cut to get into Pre-Calculus. I’m sure that to many students that isn’t a big deal, and the teenage Haley may not think it’s a big deal, either. But I bet little Haley, struggling with simpler math concepts to the point of tears, would think it’s a pretty big deal.” – Christy Fugate
Congratulations Haley!

Haley will now be eligible to win a 100-dollar Walmart gift card at the end of the school year courtesy of McDowell Gear & Machine and The Zone. Thank you, McDowell Gear & Machine, for helping provide this recognition.
