Lady Eagles win spot in District Championship game

 

The H Y. Livesay girls basketball team and Soldier’s Memorial Middle School battled on the hardwood at Hancock County in a District Tournament semifinal round, July 21. The final score of the game was 49-17 with the Lady Eagles moving on to the championship round.

Leading Livesay in scoring was Kelly Hatfield with 23 points. Allie Owens and Sara Stamper both had six. Amillya Smith had five, Karlie Johnson had three, Abby Peters along with Allie Fortner and Natalie Davis each had two points.

S.M.M.S. was led by Emma Ferguson with six. Tayleigh Stansberry along with Hailey Martin and Leah Sandefur all had three. Jalynn Brooks finished with two.

With the win, the Lady Eagles will play in the championship game Monday night. The H.Y. boys will also play in the championship game with both teams playing the host of the tournament Hancock.
