March 20- Claiborne softball hosted Thomas Walker Monday evening and started slow but finished strong.
Thomas Walker scored one run early and had two on with one out, but the Lady Bulldogs got out of the inning, only being down 1-0. Maddie Lynch hit a triple on the left field line scoring Hannah Fugate and Jacey Ferguson. The Lady Bulldogs came out of the first leading 2-1.
During the top of the second, Myatt had settled into a groove and with two out, issued a base-on-balls but struck out the next Lady Pioneer to get out of the inning unharmed.
Kinley Mullins singled, scoring one run, but later Myatt tripled, scoring two runs and then Maddie Lynch singled scoring one more. With two outs in the bottom of the second, the score was 7-1. Emily Widner reached on a single and ended up scoring on what looked to be three throwing errors, making it 9-1.
The scoring stopped for both teams, but Claiborne had three on with one out and Jaylen Pressnell singled up the middle scoring two runs and ending the game via the run rule at 11-1.
