Alpha Lambda Zeta, a local fraternity exclusive to Lincoln Memorial University, has Adopted a highway in Claiborne County via Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Brothers of Alpha Lambda Zeta spent Monday, March 6th, restoring the beauty of Tennessee highways by removing litter that had been discarded. While most brothers have busy schedules as students, they pride themselves on making time for community service and involvement. The fraternity has committed to cleaning up the highway from mile marker 16 to 18 on Highway 63 near Livesay Middle School, going up to the entrance of Harrogate City Park.
Alpha Lambda Zeta is a social fraternity at LMU that is passionate about its community and its natural beauty. The Alphas have made the commitment to clean their stretch of highway at least once per semester, every semester moving forward. The Alphas also have a philanthropy attached to their organization, the American Heart Association, in which the fraternity will be doing a pie in the face event, where both students of LMU and members of the community can pie a brother in the face by donating a dollar for AHA toward the end of March in front of the LMU’s student center.
The fraternity brothers saw TDOT’s Adopt a Highway program as an excellent opportunity to act on their mission statement that the fraternity has held up since it was founded in 1927 of bettering their community and campus through unceasing, hard work and dedication. Written by Trey Chumley.
