Cumberland Gap softball takes Grainger to the limit

April 10- Cumberland Gap hosted Grainger on the softball diamond and took the Lady Grizzlies to the limit. Kerry Dixon was in the circle and pitched well, striking out 12 but gave up six hits and runs over six and a third inning. Lacey Gulley entered in relief.

Dixon also matched a Grainger homerun with one of her own, both were in the first inning. Jennabeth Wilburn, Maddison Stevens and Brinkley Hollin all had hits as well. Grainger only had six hits but were able to put runs on the board better than the Lady Panthers. It was a closer game than the 6-2 score indicated.

There was a moment of controversy when Hayden Beeler was ejected due to a hard tag on Lady Grizzly that ran into a “pickle-situation” at home plate. Beeler was ejected from the game to the shock of Cumberland Gap’s coaches and fans.

The Walker & Walker Construction Player of the game was Kerry Dixon.
