Tazewell Speedway once again filled the stands for their annual Fourth of July race. The Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial, Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals sponsored in part by Toyota Knoxville once again brought thousands of race fans into Claiborne County to watch some of the best dirt drivers attack the high-banked dirt speedway.
Claiborne County businesses reap financial rewards each time the speedway opens its gates but the national series events always brings in huge numbers of drivers and fans from all over the country. Tazewell Speedway is a bucket-list race track for many and they spend money in local restaurants, gas stations, hotels and more.
Tazewell Speedway helps Claiborne County veer away from the agriculture only designation and turns it into a place of destination for many. The racing, along with Norris Lake and other special events, proves that this county can be successful banking on tourism.
