Rusty Provins, born October 5, 1995, attended Cumberland Gap High School in Harrogate, Tennessee and was a five-time State Champion in discus and shot put. In addition to an athletic career which saw Provins sign with Wake Forest Track and Field, he was also valedictorian of his high school class maintaining a 4.0 GPA all four years. His father, Paul, coached Provins and he also threw for the University of Tennessee. Provins is now a captain in the U.S. Army, Army Ranger, in the 82nd Airborne at Forty Liberty, North Carolina.
