There were several teams considered for this recognition, but two teams stood out a little more. The Springdale junior varsity girls banded together and had a great year winning the county tournament championship. For their efforts, the JV Lady Owls are the girl’s Sycamore Creek Construction & Renovation Team of the Year.
The boy’s Sycamore Creek Construction & Renovation Team of the Year is none other than the Powell Valley Varsity Indians. This was a great team that seemed to be a level above all others this season. They were the 2023 Claiborne County Varsity Basketball Tournament Champions.
Remember, this is not a slight on other great teams this year such as Midway JV boys, H.Y. Livesay Varsity Girls, CHS volleyball team, The Timberwolves or Cumberland Gap’s VFL football teams.
