February 24- Region 1-AAA Basketball Tournament hosted by Claiborne High School
The Claiborne Bulldogs’ season came to an end when Unicoi defeated them 64-50. Behind nine three-pointers and 29 from Jackson Simmons, the Blue Devils were able to defeat Claiborne. Unicoi jumped ahead early and never trailed. Claiborne battled but were down 28-20 at the half. three, three-pointers in the third period by Unicoi broke the spirit of the Bulldogs and the Blue Devils took the victory and moved on in the regional tournament. Claiborne ended a great season with the disappointing loss. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Ethan Cupp with 24, Evan Thomas had 15. Brady Hamlin scored five, C.J. Cox had four, and Jake Smith dropped in two. For the Blue Devils, Jackson Simmons dropped in 29 points, Garrett Sellars had 17, Koda Cutlip had 10, Carter Simmons had five, Kaden Cutlip and Mason Hensley both had two. 8 All scores are unofficial.
