February 28- Region 1-AAA Girl’s Basketball Tournament Championship game hosted by Claiborne High School.
Greeneville and Elizabethton played for the region title on the floor of the Carl Green Gymnasium. The Lady Cyclones held the momentum early and led at the half, 34-29; however, it was a tale of two halves as the Lady Green Devils stormed ahead in the second half and grabbed the championship by the final score of 71-59.
Leading Greeneville in scoring was Abby Adkins with 23. Maria Lyde had 15, Anna Shaw had 13, Kyla Jobe had 12 and Jordan Swatzell finished with eight. Peyton McGee led the Lady Cyclones with 16, Reilly Whitson had 15, Marlee Mathena had 11, Kayeyn Nave had eight, Michelle Fields scored five and rounding out the total was Jamira Smalls with four. * All scores are unofficial.
The Region 1-AAA All-Tournament Team featured Brylee Tulloch, Jacie Begley, Ava Jackson, Maria Lyde, Jordan Swatzell, Michelle Shields, Anna Shaw, Marlee Marthena, Kyla Jobe and the Most Valuable Player was Abby Adkins.
