Claiborne Softball upsets Greeneville, 11-6

April 29- In years past, the Lady Bulldogs have struggled playing Greeneville but, on this day, they were not to be denied.

Claiborne jumped ahead 7-2 early due in part to good team defense and good pitching by Marley Sweet. Sweet went the distance giving up 15 hits, five earned runs, struck out four and walked two. She struggled with a leg injury in the latter innings, but overcome, helping her team get the win. At the plate, Kinley Mullins and Jaycee Hall both had two RBI and Kate Combs reached base twice on base-on-balls helping to get runners on base. Allie Jones went three-for-four and Jacey Ferguson along with Madison Ferguson and Maci Short also helped add runs to the total. Claiborne committed three errors and Greeneville had two.

These two teams will meet again Friday in district tournament play. The Walker and Walker Construction Players of the Game were Kinley Mullins and Jaycee Hall.
