Finally, wrestling has come back to Claiborne County!

May 18- Just hours away from the pomp and circumstances of a graduating class, Claiborne High School emptied out the Carl R. Green Gymnasium and put in its place a wrestling ring belonging to East Tennessee Championship Wrestling (ETCW) based out of Alcoa.
Etcw Alcoa is a professional wrestling company that specializes in fund raising for schools, ball teams, church and business organizations, bands and more.
The promotion provided the heels and faces that entertained the crowd in numerous ways. There were high flying wrestlers, technical, ground and pound and of course the good-natured interactions with the standing crowd; that is until the angry grandmothers got tired of standing.
There were only five matches on this program, but they were all entertaining and had the fans involved with friendly back and forth. The company made sure the kids were entertained as well. They even invited them to sit near the ring in order to get a closer view of the action.
The program was fun for everyone in attendance and the smiles and laughs were infectious. CHS Principal Craig Ivey wanted to thank everyone involved and announced the return of ETCW in October.
The athletic and band programs will benefit from the proceeds. -AE
