May 9- Claiborne softball ends season in semi-final game versus Greeneville.

The Lady Bulldogs’ seniors had tears in their eyes after losing to the Lady Green Devils, 11-1, in district play. Things looked bright for CHS as they had a runner on third to start the game. That runner was erased at the plate, and it seemed to deflate the team. Greeneville struck twice in the bottom of the first on two solo homeruns, helped out by a strong wind towards left field. Greeneville then went on to put nine more runs on the board while Claiborne managed only one. The Devils moved on to battle Grainger in the championship game and Claiborne loaded the bags up for the final time this season.

Claiborne Head Coach Corey McGinnis said this about today’s loss and how the team improved throughout the season, “We left too many on base today. Give them credit, they were able to get timely hits and we simply couldn’t. I think our young team got stronger throughout the season and I’m looking forward to next season.”
