On August 20, the Horace Maynard Middle School Red Devils traveled north to face the Bulldogs on the gridiron. Claiborne, coming off a loss in their season opener, was ready for a fight. The Red Devils had their best offensive moment on the opening drive, with Moore scoring their only touchdown and Turner adding the two-point conversion. After that, Claiborne’s defense held strong, bending but never breaking. Offensively, Claiborne moved the ball at times but couldn’t land the big play to tie it up. As the clock wound down, they were driving but ran out of time. The final score: 8-0.
