September 17- The Claiborne Middle School football team hosted Oneida Middle at Claiborne High School, but Bulldogs fans didn’t have much to cheer about as Oneida rolled to a 33-6 win. Sawyer Phillips opened the scoring for the Indians on their first drive, though the conversion failed, making it 6-0. On the next drive, Walker Henson scored and Reece Brewster ran in the conversion for a 14-0 lead. Claiborne’s offense stalled with back-to-back punts before Brayden King scored on Oneida’s third drive, but the point after missed, 20-0. King struck again with 4:55 left in the half, but another missed kick left it 26-0 at the break. With a running clock in the second half, Oneida added one more touchdown from Nolan Keeton, this time with a good kick for 33-0. Claiborne’s lone score came with 1:57 left on a Goodin pass to Theo Green, but the conversion failed, sealing the 33-6 final as Oneida headed home with the win. – AE
