December 17- Day three of the 2025 Claiborne County Varsity Middle School Basketball Tournament featured four games. The first game was Springdale versus Powell Valley girls. Springdale jumped ahead 10-3 early and with 14 points from both Bristol Stone and Adilyn Kelly secured a win at 42-24. Madison Parrish finished with eight, Cryslenn Patton had four and Averie Weaver finished with two. The Lady Indians were led by Jalyn Pearman with 12, Maizley Barnett had six and Cidda-Lee Middleton had four.

The second game was the boys battle between Midway and Powell Valley. The number on seeded Red Devils looked impressive as they won 42-11 in part due to 11 points from Landon Callahan. Bentley Bays wasn’t far behind with eight. Chris Holt had seven, Jack Ray had five, Barrett Farmer had three. Four others scored two points including Bryce England, Jarrett Maples, Josiah Francis and Ryder England. Cason Bolinger led the Indians with five, and three others had two each including Adan Smith, Bentley Siler and Knox Couch.

Game three was the best one of the varsity tournament, so far. Midway and Livesay girls had a battle until the end. Livesay jumped ahead after one period, 8-5. Midway had a strong second period and tied it at the half. The Lady Eagles came out of the locker room and grabbed the lead by one after three periods, 22-21. The Lady Red Devils took the lead in the fourth period and won by a single point, 27-26. There were over 10 lead changes between the two determined teams. McKinley Miracle led Midway with 10. Tori Spurlock had seven, Ailee Fields had four. Addison Dyke and Bryce Shields both had two each and Kailyn Williams had one. Elle Harris was the catalyst for the Lady Indians as she dropped in 14 to lead both teams. Josie Lawson had five, Payson Hatfield had four and Lexi Dison had three. Midway will battle Springdale for the girl’s Championship Thursday.

The final game was SMMS and Livesay on the boy’s side of the bracket. The Blue Devils jumped out front early and led at the half, 27-11. The Eagles outscored SMMS 9-5 in the third, but the Blue Devils took home a 43-22 win to advance to the championship game against Midway. Braxton Lovin shined with 18 points. Trevaur Taylor had 12, Jacob Goodin scored five, Drake Huston had four and two others had two points each including Braxton Ferrell and Noah Chumley. Jackson Dixon had a great game for the Indians and scored 10. Caleb Powell had three and four others had two including Hudson Wilder, Norris Cadle, Kellen Bolinger and Bentlee Lewis. Sawyer Wallace finished with one point.
