December 18- Championship day arrived for local varsity middle school basketball teams.

Girls Champions: Midway Lady Red Devils

Boys Champions: SMMS Blue Devils
Day four began with both girl’s and boy’s consolation games. Taking the floor first were Powell Valley versus H.Y. Livesay girls. Livesay led 8-0 after one period and went on to win third place, 29-17. Lexi Dison dropped in 14. Trinitie Smith had seven, Josie Lawson had four and two other Lady Eagles scored two points each including Chloe Sharp and Elle Harris. Cidda-Lee Middleton led Powell Valley with nine, Aaralyn Middleton had four and Maizley Barnett along with Tatum Brummett scored two. Livesay finished third and Powell Valley fourth.

The boys’ consolation game was next, and it was again Powell Valley versus Livesay. In a very competitive game, Powell Valley won 40-34 in part due to 18 points from Cooper Chumley. Cason Bolinger had nine, Adan Smith scored seven, Bentley Siler had three. Jaxon Mize scored two and Kylix Hatfield dropped in one point. Livesay was led by Jackson Dixon with 10. Kellen Bolinger had six, Riley Marsee had four. Norris Cadle, Caleb Powell, Sawyer Wallace and Bentley Lewis all scored three. Colton Greenwell scored one point.

The girls’ championship was next, and it was an amazing game between two teams that refused to lose. Midway, behind 12 points from MVP Tori Spurlock, took control late and was on top by a single point 28-27 at the final buzzer. Springdale played well enough to win but just ran out of time. Mckinley Miracle scored six. Kailyn Williams and Ailee Fields both scored four and Addison Dyke dropped in two. Bristol Stone played well and led the Lady Owls with nine. Madison Parrish played great in the paint and finished with six. Adilyn Kelly had five. The Midway Red Devils are your 2025 Claiborne County Varsity Middle School Basketball Champions. Springdale was the runner up.


The final game of the tournament was the boys’ championship between two great teams, Midway and Soldier’s Memorial Middle School. The scoring was at a premium during the first period but after the teams got loose, the scoring quickened; however, the defenses held the total at the half to 14-10 with the Red Devils leading. This game turned during the third period when the tournament MVP Trevaur Taylor dropped in 10 points. From that moment on, the Blue Devils stayed out front and finished with the 35-29 win. Braxton Lovin scored eight, Peyton Eldridge scored six and Jacob Goodin scored two. Taylor led all scorers with 19. Bryce England scored 12 for Midway. Bentley Bays finished with six and two others dropped in four each including Jarrett Maples and Landon Callahan. SMMS was your 2025 Claiborne County Varsity Middle School Tournament Champions and Midway was the runner up.
